MAS108-G Microprocessors

Norwegian and English. Lectures are in Norwegian. Textbooks are in English, and international students are offered special tuition in English.

After completing the course, the student is expected to:

  • knowledge of microprocessor hardware, operation and programming
  • understand the microprocessor as a component and using it in simple control tasks

Digital logic circuits. Boolean algebra. Number systems. Flip-flops, registers and buses. Logical and arithmetical operations. Negative numbers. Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU). Physical memory addressing. Assembly programming. Symbolic addressing. System architecture. Branching instructions. Subroutines and stacks. Structured programming, flow diagrams and pseudocodes. Interrupt handling. Use of development systems and programming tools.

Lectures 2 hours per week, exercises and laboratory work 2 hours per week in group.

Satisfactory submission of compulsory exercises.

Written examination, 3 hours. Graded mark.
