Academic recognition of exchange studies

Incoming students

Exchange students from partner universities will, irrespective of exchange program, have a learning agreement prior to the exchange period.

Upon completion of their studies at the University of Agder, they will automatically get a Transcript of Records that will be sent to the students. It will be the responsibility of the sending institution to give the students full academic recognition of credits taken at the University of Agder as part of their degree and in line with the original learning agreement or any modified learning agreement which has been mutually agreed upon during the exchange period.

Outgoing students

Before applying to a partner institution, exchange students from the University of Agder are required to have their studies pre-approved by their study programme coordinator or a member of the academic staff who has been delegated this task. All Erasmus students are also required to use a learning agreement, which is signed by the student, the academic coordinator and the international coordinator and sent to the partner institution before the exchange period. Any changes to the study plan during the stay should be approved and documented to assure complete credit transfer upon completion of the exchange.

The student is responsible for getting changes approved by both the sending and receiving institutions and for submitting a Transcript of Records from the host institution upon completion of studies abroad. Once a transcript has been received, the credits are finally approved, registered in the university's database and become a part of the student's permanent record. The credits appear on the student's diploma as "approved, exchange abroad, the number of credits, and the name of the host institution."
