General Practitioner

If you are staying in Norway for more than one year and apply for a Norwegian ID-number, you will automatically be given a general practitioner (GP).

If you are staying for more than one year and apply for a Norwegian ID-number, you will automatically be given a general practitioner (GP). The Norwegian name for GP is 'fastlege'. You will receive a letter in Norwegian telling you your basic rights regarding the GP-scheme.

It is possible to change your GP twice a year.
