Semester fee
Students in their second semester and later will not receive an invoice for student fees (semester fee, copying fee, paper fee and SAIH contribution) by post.
Each semester, you must pay a student fee to be registered, take examinations, receive scholarships from the State Educational Loan Fund, and receive a student ID card. The semester card confirms that you are a student this semester. You also need a semester card to use services provided by the Student Organization in Agder (SiA) and for various student discounts.
If you do not pay student fees by 1 February / 1 September, you will not be considered a student and your examination registration will be annulled.
All students who have paid student fees, registered for the semester and are progressing at a normal pace will receive payment information (KID-number, account number and amount) on the StudentWeb around 1 December and mid-June for the following semester.If you do not have an Internet bank account, you can order a paper invoice on the StudentWeb. This will be sent to your home address during the summer and Christmas holidays and to your semester address during the rest of the year. Do NOT use an invoice that you have filled out manually!
If you have not received this information on the StudentWeb, ask at the Service Centre, send an email to servicetorget@uia.no or call 38142100.
New students starting in January will receive an invoice in December. New students starting in August will receive an invoice around 20 July. Remember to use the KID number when paying over the Internet.
The student fee for spring 2011 is 750 NOK and goes to:
* Copying fee: 190 NOK
* Semester fee to SiA: 340 NOK and the national Student Association: 50 NOK
* Miscellaneous materials: 150 NOK
* Students and Academias International Assistance Foundation (SAIH) 20 NOK
The 20 NOK to SAIH can be refunded. More information at http://www.saih.no/
If you pay a student fee to another university or university college, the payment will not be registered automatically at UiA. You must therefore present documentation that you have paid the student fee, so that it can be registered manually at UiA.Visit the Service center with a copy of proof of payment, or send proof along with your full name and student number.
Summer semester
Students attending summer semester pay a semester fee that is also valid for autumn semester. There is no need to pay for the autumn semester if they have paid for summer.
PhD candidates and semester fee:
"PhD candidates who receive funding from the State Educational Loan Fund for their education according to chapter six in the Act pertaining to financial support for students (through the NUFU programme or other NORAD-financed programmes), can choose to pay the semester fee. When there is any doubt about the candidate's status, the educational institution in consultation with the Student Association can decide whether or not he or she can be considered a student according to section one in this chapter." - Student Association Act, § 17
This means that only PhD candidates receiving support through these programmes or the State Educational Loan Fund can choose to pay the semester fee. No other PhD candidates may pay the fee.
