What is FP7?

Norway has, through the European Economic Area Agreement, full participation in the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Community for research, technological development and demonstration activities (FP7). The programme runs from 2007-2013 and has, in total, funding of approximately EUR 50 billion spread across four main areas (Cooperation, People, Ideas and Capacities). On these web pages you will find information on programmes, proposals and background documents.

Cooperation: Collaborative projects around important thematic areas for the EU.

People (Marie Curie Actions): Focusing first and foremost on the researcher mobility, both within and outside of the EU, career development and support for PhD positions.

Ideas: Created by researchers for researchers. It should produce excellent research and is open to all fields. This programme was initiated by the European Research Council (ERC).

Capacities: This programme should strengthen research capacity throughout Europe by, among others, increasing knowledge and the dissemination of research, and strengthening research infrastructure and industry participation.
