Positive response for AUC's fifth PhD application
The commitee that evaluated AUC's application to establish a PhD programme in Religion, Ethics and Society was unanimously positive in its report to NOKUT.
NOKUT - the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education - appointed Professor Harald Hegstad of the Norwegian School of Theology, Professor Margit Warburg of the University of Copenhagen and professor Øyvind Baune of the University of Oslo to the committee.
The committee stated:
"The committee believes the application from Agder University College for accrediation of a PhD programme in Religion, Ethics and Society satisfies all of the standards and criteria of a PhD programme.
In the report, the committee points out that the field of religion is particularly well-covered, both within the sociology of religion and systematic theology. The committee recommends that the university college further develop the academic area of normative ethics with a view to projecting a clearer independent philosophical rooting in the subject."
Fifth PhD area
When NOKUT's board makes a decision on the application - and it is highly unlikely that they will go against the committee's recommendation - AUC will have its fifth PhD programme.
