Crown Princess Mette-Marit officially opens UiA
The University of Agder is officially open! Crown Princess Mette-Marit formally opened the university during a ceremony in Kristiansand with 2000 guests - students, faculty, staff, special guests and many local people who celebrated that the region has finally got its first university.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit on the way in to the University of Agder with Rector Torunn Lauvdal and police chief Bjørn Hareide.
Former student of Agder University College, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, held a speech where she recalled good memories of being a student at Agder.
Rector Torunn Lauvdal looked toward the future. "University status is not a goal, it is just a milestone," she said. "We have great tasks ahead, and we are humbled by this. It is important to find some central balancing points."
The Chinese Ambassador, Gao Jian, with UiAs coordinator for China, Gunnar Oftedahl. The Ambassador's colleagues are Cheng Xu Mei and Liu Hao.
Rector Torunn Lauvdal welcomed Crown Princess Mette-Marit as she arrived at the opening ceremony.
