Kindergartens

Kristiansand has a varied selection of kindergartens in terms of size, academic content, geographic location and opening hours. Kristiansand Municipality handles applications to all municipal, private and state kindergartens in Kristiansand. The application deadline for admission in August is 1 March. Rolling admission applications can be sent all year long and will be considered when there is space available.

Costs vary between 1346-2330 NOK per month for a full-time kindergarten place.

Hokus Pokus Campus Kindergarten

The Student Association of Agder (SiA) runs a kindergarten for students and staff next to the Gimlemoen campus in Kristiansand. The Hokus Pokus kindergarten is first and foremost an offer for students and UiA employees. Application is made through the coordinated admissions process for public and private kindergartens in Kristiansand.

Schools

In Norway, children start primary school at the age of six and finish lower secondary school by the age of 15. There is no tuition fee at public shools.

Kristiansand International School

Kristiansand International School (KIS) provides an international education for students from Grade 1 – Grade 10. Students of overseas parents are prioritized for admission. For more information about the school, contact details and applications, please consult KIS's website.

Municipal schools

Kristiansand Municipality is responsible for primary and lower secondary education for students through grades 1-10 and for adult minority language students.
