Research Collaboration between Mzumbe University and the University of Agder

More than 40 faculty members and administrative staff have been involved in the collaboration, and a number of projects have been initiated and implemented, covering a wide range of areas and disciplines:

  • Economics
  • Sociology (+ gender)
  • Law
  • Political science/Public administration
  • Development studies
  • Public health
  • Communication theory
  • Natural sciences and technology

Two textbooks were published during this phase, in addition to a number of non-research publications, primarily concerning library and ICT issues.

Since 1997 the collaboration has been organised in four research clusters:

  • Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development
    Professor Stein Kristiansen, cluster leader
  • Gender
    Associate Professor Anne Ryen, cluster leader
  • Local Government
    The position as cluster leader is vacant at the present time
  • ICT (established in 2000)
    Associate Professor Bjørn Furuholt, cluster leader

At the University of Agder, the library collaboration is headed by University Librarian Else Margrethe Bredland.
