Arts and Crafts
The Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts offers a bachelor's programme in fine art with a concentration in arts and crafts, a one-semester programme in design and technology, as well as arts and crafts courses in the University's teacher education programmes.
Arts and Crafts courses attract a large number of applicants, and have been among the most popular courses offered by the University in recent years. About 250 students currently enrol in various arts and crafts courses each year.
Drama/Theatre
The Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts offers a bachelor's programme in drama education and drama courses in the University's different teacher education programmes. Drama/Theatre has five full-time academic staff and a large number of part-time teachers.
Most courses are taught through hands-on drama and theatre work emphasising creative performance through various dramatic modes of expression. Most of the work is done in the drama and theatre halls on campus. Student ensembles tour extensively and students are engaged in work placements in a range of settings throughout their studies.
