Rector and Vice Rectors

The Rector is the Chair of the University Board and responsible for leading and developing the activities of the university. The Rector is also the university's legal signatory and spokesperson to public authorities and the general public.

The University of Agder's rector and vice rectors are:

Torunn Lauvdal, Rector. Professor Torunn Lauvdal was previously the managing director of Agder Research. Lauvdal holds a dr.polit. degree from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and undertook post-graduate work at Uppsala University, Sweden and Stanford University, USA. She has taught in the university and university college sector and worked as a researcher and director of research at SINTEF and Agder Research.

Marit Aamodt Nielsen, Vice Rector for Education, Study Quality and Learning Environment. Marit Aamodt Nielsen is a professor of Nordic linguistics and holds a dr.philos.degree from the University of Oslo. She was Dean of the Faculty of Humanities from 1994 to 2000, Vice Chair of the Board of Agder University College, and Head of the Department of Nordic Studies and Media from 2002 to 2007.

   
Viserektor Dag G. Aasland

Dag G. Aasland, Vice Rector for Research, Dissemination and Innovation. Dag G. Aasland is a professor of economics at the Department of Working Life and Innovation at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences. He holds a dr.scient degree in agricultural economics from the University of Life Sciences. Aasland has been Head of Department for long periods. He was elected to the University Board in 2007.
