Centre for Norwegian Studies Abroad (SNU)

Agder University College has established a separate Centre for Norwegian Studies Abroad (SNU). The centre is connected to the Institute of Nordic language and media studies in the Faculty of Humanities.

The Institute of Nordic language and media studies offers Norwegian studies at the bachelor and master levels and a PhD programme in Norwegian language and literature, Norwegian in pre-school teacher education and general teacher education and Norwegian as a second language as well as study programmes in media and communication.

The Centre for Norwegian Studies Abroad directs its activities toward both Norwegian students and teachers:

Summer course and study abroad with stipend
This is aimed at foreign students studying Norwegian in their home countries.

The Centre for Norwegian Studies Abroad offers summer courses in Norwegian language, literature and culture in Kristiansand.

The Centre can provide a stay abroad and academic advisement at Agder University College for students working on a Master or PhD degree in Norwegian literature or language.

The Centre will make it possible for students studying Norwegian below the Master level to take a part of their studies at the Institute of Nordic language and literature and media at Agder University College.

The Centre will assist Norwegian milieus abroad in planning excursions to Norway.

Eventually, we would also like to offer modules in specific courses that can be taken as net-based study programmes by students of Norwegian abroad.

Teaching staff exchange and academic contact

This is aimed at Norwegian instructors at educational institutions abroad who would like to improve or refresh their skills and increase contact with their Norwegian colleagues.

The Centre for Norwegian Studies Abroad provides opportunities for our colleagues working with Norwegian abroad to be guest lecturers at our institution.

The Centre also stimulates Norwegian instructors at Agder University College to travel as guest lecturers to educational institutions abroad that offer Norwegian studies.

The Centre for Norwegian Studies Abroad initiates and cooperates on research and development projects with Norwegian milieus abroad.
