Metochi Study Centre is situated in the countryside by the bay of Kalloni, approximately one hour’s drive from the airport of the island. The nearest town, Kalloni, is 3 km from the monastery. Kalloni is a local trading centre with banks, a post office, medical assistance, pay phones, pharmacies and different stores. The sandy beaches of the bay of Kalloni are at a distance of 4 km from Metochi. By the beach is a small fisherman’s village, Skala Kallonis, with hotels, taverns, restaurants and bars. The landscape between the monastery and the villages is flat and well suited for bike rides.
Metochi and the Limonos Monastery are connected by a beautiful stone path of about 2-3 km, laid in the 16th century. The walk to Limonos is highly recommended. Guests at Metochi are welcome to attend morning and evening liturgy services at the main monastery. The Limonos Monastery also contains interesting museums, churches and court yards.
