The UiA telescope

At the roof of the science building sits an observatory. It was officially inaugurated on Tuesday 8. June 2004, the same day as the Venus passage took place.

The observatory contains a telescope of type Mead LX200 10. It is a mirror telescope with a focal length of 2500 mm and an aperture of 254 mm. On the telescope is fixed a lens telescope of type Sky-Watcher 3,1, with a web camera at the end. This telescope has a focal length of 400 mm, and the aperture is 80 mm.

The web camera is a Philips ToUcam PRO II, with a resolution of 1,2 megapixels. The camera lens is removed, thus the telescopic image is projected direct onto the CCD chip.
