Mechatronics
Read the latest news from the Mechatronics group.
The thesis project is a multi-disciplinary combination of courses from the Bachelor study program in Mechatronics and cover digital control systems, electronics, 3D-modelling (CAD) and calculations/analysis of mechanical parts.
The goal of the project is to build a scaled-down mechanical model of a pipehandler, and to make this machine move in a coordinated way. The pipehandler is a robot from a real drilling rig, and the task of the pipehandler is to transport pipes to and from the drill string. The model will controlled by a Siemens PLC, such that it can move by using electrical actuators. The motion sequence to be programmed will be approximately the same as the motion sequence of the real pipehandler.
