Industrial IT

Examination:
1. Project report (60%), groups of 2-4 students.
2. Project execution and management (20%)
3. Project presentation (20%)

This is a project course with very few traditional lectures. In the beginning of the semester there will be lectures within the following topics: Siemens PLC/ABB Industrial IT 800xa, WinCC, Proficy Portal and Historian.

Course coordinators: Geir Hovland and Tor Anders Hauge.

Lecture 1:

L1:

Overview of the course, teaching plan, overview of compulsory tutorials and the main projects, introduction to systematic PLC programming.

T1:

Solution of a logical assignment by use of both flowcharts and state-machines, practical PLC programming by using Step7 from Siemens and CPU313C.

Lecture 2:

L2:

Presentation of WinCC, screen-based control for Siemens PLC's.

T2:

Practical assignment using WinCC.

Lecture 3:

L3:

Presentation of ABB Industrial IT and 800xA, screen-based control for the ABB system.

T3:

Practical assignment using ABB Industrial IT.

Lecture 4:

L4:

Presentation of Proficy Portal and Historian.

T4:

Practical assignment using Proficy Portal and Historian.

Teaching weeks 5-12:

L5-12:

Introduction to project management, Project group work starts.

Teaching week 13:

L13:

Lecture on report writing.

Teaching week 14:

L14:

Group demonstrations and presentations. Examination.
