The Research Frontier of Regional Innovation Policies 14 & 15 October 2010
The 5th International Seminar on Regional Innovation Policies will take place at the University of Agder, Grimstad, Norway on 14-15 October 2010. The seminar is hosted by the Centre for Advanced Studies of Regional Innovation Strategies at the Department of Working Life and Innovation.
Call for papers
The Seminar will reserve ample time for the discussion of papers and will appoint one discussant on every paper. The seminar is therefore a good opportunity to present papers related to the following issues in particular:
- Work organisation and innovation
- Regional innovation systems
- Regional governance and policies
- Practice based research in regional development processes
Deadline Abstracts
The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 1 May 2010. Abstracts should be sent to arne.isaksen@uia.no or hans.c.g.johnsen@uia.no.
Deadline Papers
The deadline for final paper submission is 15 September 2010. Papers should be sent to arne.isaksen@uia.no or hans.c.g.johnsen@uia.no.
Discussants
Participants at the seminar may be asked to act as discussants on papers. We intend to appoint at least one discussant per paper to provide relevant feedback and encourage lively debate on each paper.
Publication
A selection of the papers given at the seminar will be invited for publication in a spesial issue of an intenational journal.
Keynote speakers
The Seminar has a number of very distinguished keynote speakers, and provides an excellent opportunity to stay abreast of the latest developments in the field of regional innovation policies and related fields. The keynote speakers include:
- Professor Bjørn Asheim on Next generation regional innovation policy
- Professor Ron Boschma on Regional innovation policy from an evolutionary perspective
- Professor Bjørn Gustavsen on The Nordic model of work organisation
- Professor Edward Lorenz on The organisation of work and innovation
- Dr. Jonathan Potter on Stimulating entrepreneurship and SME innovation at local level
- Professor Markku Sotarauta on Regional leadership and institutional change for knowledge cities
Hotel
You must book your room directly with the hotel and pay directly to the hotel. The seminar has made reservations at two hotels, one located in Grimstad (Rica Hotel Grimstad, one kilometre off campus) and one located in Arendal (Clarion Hotel Tyholmen hotel, 20 kilometres off campus). This is also where the seminar dinner will be held. Buses will be set up to bring you from your hotel onto the campus.
Registration and fee
The deadline for registration is 15 September 2010. The seminar fee is 300 euros. (The registration form is under construction).
Transfers
The Grimstad campus is located 45 km from Kristiansand airport Kjevik. Here you can find practical information about transportation to and from the airport, the campus and the hotels (The website about practical information is under construction).
