European Integration Summer School
June 21 - August 6, 2010 in Kristiansand, Norway
No tuition or exam fee, only a semester fee.
The master-level courses are taught by top professors and practitioners from all over Europe. Working methods include lectures, working groups and role plays. A maximum of 25 students are accepted, and they come from all over the world. In 2009 ten nationalities were represented, and in 2008 six nationalities.
The programme is organised around two courses equal to 15 ECTS credits each:

ST-401 History, institutions and policies of the European integration
- From economic community to political union in Europe
- The polity and politics of the European Union
- Between inter- and supra-governmentalism in Europe
- Policy-making and lobbying in the European Union -
ST-402 Current isues in the European Union
- The EU and the US - continental comparisons
- Common foreign and security policy of the European Union
- Europeanisation of member states polities and politics
- Identity formation in Europe and the EU

Reading list
The students will have to read approximately 2000 pages in relation to the two courses (approx. 1000 each). The literature will be in English and mainly consist of text books. As a rule, articles and primary sources and teaching material will be collected in a compendium for sale.
Basic book

Accommodation
The student residence halls are run by the Student Welfare Association (SIA). The University of Agder has extensive modern facilities designed to provide students with the very best working environment. Student housing, consisting of high standard single room accommodation with shared bathrooms and kitchens is provided within easy walking distance of study locations. All rooms are fully furnished and have the following amenities:

- TV rooms and lounges
- Laundries with washing machines and tumble dryers

Study facilities

Award
The European Integration Summer School won the "Best Learning Environment Award" for 2007 at the University of Agder. The programme was praised for its professional-pedagogical aspects, good social setting and dynamics, as well as its international profile.
