Short CV for core faculty

Eli Hustad is an Associate Professor of Information Systems at the University of Agder. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Oslo, Department of Informatics. Her research interests and teaching focus on enterprise systems, knowledge networking and boundary-spanning issues, knowledge management systems, social networking media and enterprise 2.0, and qualitative research methods in IS. She is involved in research projects focusing on the implementation and utilization of enterprise
systems in teaching laboratories and organizations. She is currently co-supervising a Ph.D. student at her department. She has published her work at several international conferences and in journals such as Journal of Information Systems Management (ISM), European Journal of Knowledge management (EJKM), and European Management Journal.

Tom Roar Eikebrokk is Associate Professor of Information Systems at University of Agder. Dr. Eikebrokk received his PhD from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration. His research interests include adoption of IT, evaluation and benefits management, IT in small businesses, and IT competence. He has published his work on several international conferences along with journals such as Information & Management, Computers in Human Behaviour and Journal of Research and Practice in IT. He is also a member of AIS and IFIP 8.2. Dr. Eikebrokk is currently co-supervising a PhD student as part of the collaboration with Aalborg University.

Leif Skiftenes Flak is Associate Professor of Information Systems at University of Agder. He holds a PhD in computer science from Aalborg University. His research interests are on e-Government in general with emphasis on local e-Government efforts, municipal cooperation and benefits management in particular. His work has been published in Communication of the AIS, Government Information Quarterly, eService Journal and Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems. Dr. Flak is currently leading the research group on e-Government at UiA and is active within the international e-Government research community through memberships in networks such as the DEMO-net European network of excellence and the Norwegian network of eGovernment researchers, where he serves as a board member. He is also member of the AIS Special Interest Group on eGovernment (SIG eGov) and is involved in various e-Government research and practice projects in Norway. Dr. Flak is currently Associate Editor of the journal Transforming Government: People, Process and Policy.

Jose J. Gonzalez is Professor of Information Security and System Dynamics at University of Agder and Adjunct Professor at Department of Informatics and Media Technology, Gjøvik University College. He received a PhD in Natural Sciences (dr. rer. nat.) from the University of Kiel and a PhD in Technology (dr. techn.) from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. His main research interests are information security, security culture and infrastructures, and learning aspects of security in organizations. He has published in, among other journals, Computers in Human Behavior, Journal of Structural Learning and Intelligence, and Technology, Instruction, Cognition and Learning. Professor Gonzalez is co-leader of the Security SIG in the System Dynamics Society and has led efforts to establish an international System Dynamics Network. He has experience from supervision of 5 PhD candidates and two postdoctoral fellows at University of Agder, University of Mainz, and University of Navarra. He has also served as external opponent for PhD dissertations at University of Mainz, University of Navarra, and Lund University.

Bjørn Erik Munkvold is Professor of Information Systems at University of Agder. Professor Munkvold has a PhD in Business Administration from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Prior to commencing his position at UiA in 1997, Munkvold worked as a systems analyst and researcher in different industries. Munkvold’s primary areas of teaching and research are e-collaboration, IS implementation, and IS research methodology. He has published in leading IS journals such as Communications of the AIS, Database for Advances in Information Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, Group Decision and Negotiation, IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, Information & Management, Information Systems Journal, Information Systems Management, and Journal of Management Information Systems. Professor Munkvold serves as Co-Editor of the Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems and associate editor of the International Journal of e-Collaboration. He has co-supervised two PhD students at Aalborg University and University of Oslo, and is currently co-supervising a student at Copenhagen Business School. He has also served as external censor in PhD committees at University of Oslo and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and has contributed to research seminars for PhD students in Norway.

Peter Axel Nielsen is Associate Professor of Computer Science at Aalborg University, Denmark, and Professor II (50 % from April 1st, 2008) at University of Agder, Department of Information Systems. He is also a Visiting International Research Scholar with Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA. He received the PhD degree in information systems from Lancaster University, UK. His research interests include action research on systems development practice and development of object-oriented methodologies, software engineering and social and organizational aspects of systems development. He has published in journals such as Communications of the ACM, MIS Quarterly, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Information Systems Journal,Office: Technology and People, Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems. He is the co-author of Object-Oriented Analysis & Design and Improving Software Organizations: From Principles to Practice. Currently, he is engaged in research on software process improvement. Professor Nielsen has experience from supervision of seven PhD candidates at Aalborg University, with four of these enrolled through the mutual agreement with University of Agder. Further, he has served on evaluation committees for 14 PhDs at different Scandinavian universities.

Dag H. Olsen is Associate Professor of Information Systems at University of Agder. Dr. Olsen received his PhD from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He is Director of the Centre for Enterprise Systems at UiA. His main research interests are e-business, IT and business development, business process management, IT and inter-organizational cooperation, enterprise systems and IT competency. He has published in Information & Management, European Journal of Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management and Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems.

Tero Päivärinta is Professor of Information Systems (3 year qualifying position) at University of Agder. He has a Ph.D. (Econ., specialisation in information systems) from University of Jyväskylä, Finland. Dr. Päivärinta’s current research interests include use of IS development methodologies in practice, enterprise content management, e-democracy, genre theory of organizational communication and benefits management of IT investments. His research appears in journals such as Annals of Cases on Information Technology, Communications of the AIS, European Journal of Information Systems, Information & Organization, Information Systems Journal, and Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems. He is currently co-supervising two PhD students at University of Bergen and Göteborg University, and has served on the committee for a PhD dissertation at University of Melbourne, Australia. Päivärinta has also given a PhD course on Proactive Research on Systems Development at Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland.

Maung K. Sein is Professor of Information Systems and Development Studies at University of Agder. He has previously served at Georgia State University, Florida International University, Indiana University and University of Bergen. He has a PhD in Management Information Systems from Indiana University. His research interests have moved on from end-user training and cognitive issues in IS to his current focus on IT and national development, e-Government, and proactive research approaches. He has published in, among others, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Communications of the ACM, The Information Society and Human Computer Interaction and has widely presented his research. His editorial board experience includes MIS Quarterly, MIS Quarterly Executive, Communications of the AIS, e-Service Journal, Electronic Journal of e-Government and guest-editing Communications of the ACM and Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems. He has chaired and served on the program committees of several conferences. He co-founded the AIS Special Interest Group (SIG) on e-Government (SIGe-Gov) and is a member of multiple other AIS SIGs. Professor Sein has supervised two PhD students at Florida International and two at Aalborg University (through the collaboration with UiA). He is currently supervising two PhD students at Aalborg University. In addition, he has served on the dissertation committee for two students at Florida International University, and served as external examiner for University of Western Ontario (Canada), Massey University (New Zealand), and Copenhagen Business School. He has taught doctoral courses and seminars in Denmark, Finland and USA.

Øystein Sæbø is Associate Professor of Information Systems at University of Agder and holds a post-doc position (part-time) at Aalborg University. He has a PhD from Aalborg University. His research interests are eDemocracy, eParticipation, eGovernment, ICT and development, and genre systems. He has published in Communication of the AIS, Government Information Quarterly and Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems. Dr. Sæbø is presently a member of several research networks nationally and internationally, including board membership of the Norwegian network of eGovernment researchers, core membership of the European Commissions’ committee on eDemocracy (CAHDE) and membership in a European Network of Excellence on eParticipation (DEMO-net). He is Associate Editor of International Journal of e-Government.
