New book by Trondal: Unpacking International Organisations

Professor Jarle Trondal has published the book "Unpacking International Organisations: The Dynamics of Compound Bureaucracies" along with Martin Marcussen, Torbjørn Larsson and Frode Veggeland.

This book introduces international bureaucracy as a key field of study for public administration and also rediscovers international bureaucracy as an essential ingredient in the study of international organisations. The questions posed by this book are to what extent, how and why international bureaucracies challenge and supplement the inherent Westphalian intergovernmental order based on territorial sovereignty.

Professor Trondal is a member of the core faculty for the PhD programme in Public Administration .

New book by Webersik: Climate Change and Security

Christian Webersik: Climate Change and Security

Associate Professor Christian Webersik at the Centre for Development Studies has published the book Climate Change and Security. The book focuses on three major threats: resource scarcity, natural disasters and sea-level rise. Read more here (Amazon).

Professor Karen O'Brien, University of Oslo, says the following about the book:

"Climate Change and Security provides a comprehensive and balanced perspective on one of today’s most pressing political issues. Webersik clearly and skillfully weaves together diverse strands of research to present a sobering yet optimistic view of an extremely complex problem; sobering in that he demonstrates that there is no single or perfect solution, and optimistic in that he emphasizes the potential for all levels of society to respond to environmental and social challenges. This book is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand climate change and its implications for human security."
