General description and profile of the programme The programme aims to provide a broad introduction to religions, philosophies of life and ethics. The modules consist e.g. of the study of Holy texts, science of religion, the history of Christianity, ethics and philosophy of religion. Cultural analytical and societal scientific studies are central components of the programme. During the programme there may be arranged excursions to Oslo and the Middle East (or Greece, Turkey or Rome). In the spring semester students choose three of the four courses from the below list.

Graduation requirements The Examination Regulations of the University of Agder regulate the graduation requirements for each programme of study.

Learning outcomes Students will - acquire thorough knowledge of Christianity - acquire good knowledge of religion and ethics - be familiar with the subject area (KRL) - master various methodical approaches to the subject area

Teaching methods See course descriptions for information on teaching. Instruction is in the form of lectures, seminar discussions and presentations. One of the courses may be taught in English.

Assessment methods Forms of assessment include written examination, oral examination, term paper and portfolio assessment. See course descriptions.

Occupational profiles of graduates and access to further studies The programme may be included in a number of bachelor´s programmes including an unspecified bachelor´s programme. It may, when included in a bachelor´s programme qualify for admission to master´s degree studies in religion or Christianity and professional studies in theology. In combination with teacher education the programme qualifies for teaching in upper secondary school and 5.-10. level of the primary and secondary school. The programme is furthermore relevant for work in the cultural sector, the health- and social sector, media and different organizations. It is well suited as a supplement for professions where one is faced with ethical challenges or where one must relate to a multicultural audience.
