Requirements for admission include possession of a Bachelor´s degree (a 3-year college or relevant university education) or the equivalent, and a minimum of one year relevant work experience after completed education. Given a sufficient number of applications, admission will be based on the following: a) A maximum of 60% of the places in the rehabilitation programme shall be offered to applicants with the same professional background. b) A minimum of three different professions shall be represented in the student group. The admission committee may deviate from the rules of priority in the admission requirements regulation (´Forskrift om opptak til mastergradsstudier og videreutdanningsstudier ved Universitetet i Agder´) if necessary, in order to fulfil the above mentioned requirements.
Relevant applicants are health and social welfare personnel at all levels, personnel in labour market services, social security services, education services, cultural services and the municipal engineering services.
The continuing education in rehabilitation and habilitation is a study programme intended for professionals who wish to strengthen and further develop competence within rehabilitation work. Rehabilitation is an interdisciplinary field requiring competence from many professions. In this programme it is important to create a common reference framework for people working in the field of rehabilitation. The programme contributes to professional insight into and knowledge of rehabilitation and habilitation, which will strengthen interdisciplinary interaction in order to actively be involved in planning and organisational work at community level, and contribute to a goal-oriented rehabilitation work at individual level.

The Examination Regulations of the University of Agder regulate the graduation requirements for each programme of study.
After completed the study programme, students will have: a common understanding of the terms habilitation and rehabilitation and a conscious awareness of the values the process of habilitation and rehabilitation is based on a common understanding of the roles and functions of different participants, and knowledge of what user partaking implies and requires of the involved participants acquired an insight into and skills in preparing, implementing and evaluating determined habilitation and rehabilitation work high competence in cooperation, counselling and guidance knowledge of the important principles and ideas in working out and carrying through the user's individual plan for habilitation and rehabilitation an understanding why habilitation and rehabilitation must be developed in a network where users, professionals, volunteers and user organisations cooperate developed knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes in proportion to the information acquired when meeting people from other professions
Varied work methods will be used. Relevant forms of instruction are lectures, seminars, experience-oriented instruction, work with reflective processes, project work, study groups and individual studies.
At-school examination and portfolio
The study programme will qualify graduates for positions as municipal coordinators, executive officers in various sectors as well as middle managers at the first and second levels of public service offices. Bodø University College offers a Master's degree in Rehabilitation. University of Agder is working on the establishment of a Master of Health in which Rehabilitation may be offered as a specialisation.
