Learning outcomes Professional-ethic competence: - Is active and responsibly aware - Ties own practice to the values of the school - Shows respect for pupils, parents and fellow workers Social competence: - Shows ability to take a leader responsibility for pupils and fellow students - Can handle conflict situations that arise Professional competence: - Has knowledge about basic teaching in Norwegian and mathematics - Has knowledge about the school as an organisation - Has knowledge about the principles of school evaluation - Has knowledge about principles of conflict resolution - Has knowledge about how to prevent bullying and abuse Didactic competence: - Is able to plan, carry out teaching in basic reading writing and mathematics - Is able to combine knowledge about learning strategies with the ability to perform adaptive teaching - Can state reasons for the choice of activities and work methods - Can make a foundation for a practice related project in relation to the curriculum of - Basic Reading Writing and Mathematics Skills (GLSM) Change and development competence: - Can discuss and evaluate different working- and teaching methods - Can try out new teaching methods

Course contents Overall theme: To acquire experience with a creative learning environment with focus on basic teaching. - Basic skills in Norwegian and mathematics - Preparations for project work - Conflict resolutions and the prevention of bullying and abuse - The school as an organisation - School evaluation

Teaching methods - Teamwork - Individual preparation - Cross curricular project work - Evaluation based on professional work ethic - Planning, carrying out and evaluating teaching

Assessment methods and criteria After completed practice the tutor writes an individual written evaluation graded Pass/Fail. The grade is given on the basis of the tutor´s evaluation of the student´s learning outcome of the five competence areas. The student will present his/her evaluation report for the tutor of the next practice period.
