Admission requirements High School diploma or High School equivalency exam or relevant work experience. Students also need to pass an entrance exam.

Recommended previous knowledge To pass the entrance exam the students have to hold very good skills on their main instrument, in music theory, and they have to have a good ear.

Graduation requirements The Examination Regulations of the University of Agder regulate the graduation requirements for each programme of study.

Learning outcomes On successful completion of this programme, the students should be able to create a platform to develop themselves as artists and perform perform music at a high level.

Teaching methods The programme makes use of group seminars and individual guidance, lectures, seminars and workshops. Compulsory attendance will be required for parts of the courses (see course descriptions). Participation at different concerts is a compulsory part of the lessons.

Student exchange A study abroad programme may be included in the 5th or the 6th semester of the programme. Students may spend one semester at a university with which Faculty of Fine Arts has an agreement. Contact Student mobility adviser for further information about current exchange institutions.

Occupational profiles of graduates and access to further studies This programme qualifies for work as a freelance musician, as a band musician or as a musician in an orchestra. The programme qualifies graduates for the Master`s degree programme in Music performance at the University of Agder.
