Here you will some information regarding the submission of a masters’s thesis at the University of Agder. It is important that both students and their supervisors read through this information and follow the instructions given below.
You have to have completed your semester registration and be registered for examinations for the semester in which you want to submit your thesis. Most of our master’s degree programs have a submission deadline twice a year.
All students have to hand in their master’s thesis in Fronter. There will be a separate room in Fronter for this, and the room opens approximately two weeks prior to the submission deadline.
Please note that you have to complete and finalize the hand-in procedure in Fronter within the submission deadline! The thesis must be uploaded as a PDF-file, and all master's theses should have a common title page as its front page - see below.
If you are writing in pairs, each student has to log on to Fronter for himself and upload the thesis (the name of the PDF-file should contain the names of both students) and complete the hand-in procedure.
The submission process consists of four steps:
1. Consent: Questions regarding the publication of the master's thesis.
2. Submission form: Questions regarding personal data, title of thesis, number of copies etc.
3. Submitting your thesis: Uploading and saving your thesis.
4. Control: For you to check whether you've followed all instructions step by step.
You can also find a detailed description of how to upload and submit your thesis below.
Provided that you receive a passing grade, the number of copies that you’ve ordered for yourself will be sent to you by post to your home address. For more information regarding the costs of extra copies, see http://www.uia.no/no/portaler/om_universitetet/it-hjelp/portal/trykkeriet.

The University Library keeps an archive of previous master’s theses. Agder University Research Archive (AURA) can be found here: http://brage.bibsys.no/hia/
Most text editors enable you to convert your document into a PDF simply by clicking "File" and then "Save as" (then choose the option PDF).
You can also convert your document into a PDF by using a CutePDF Writer. All computers here at the University of Agder have a virtual printer - CutePDF - installed. When you have opened your document in Word, select the CutePDF in the list of printer choices and click “print”. The file is then converted into a PDF. Choose a location to save the PDF, and when you are about to hand in your thesis in Fronter, upload the file from this location. CutePDF Writer is a software program which can be downloaded for free.
