PhD in Mechatronics, specialization of the PhD programme in Technology

The Faculty of Engineering and Science offers a PhD Programme in Technology with the following specializations; ICT, Mechatronics, Renewable Energy and Applied Mathematics. The specialization in Mechatronics has the same programme description and regulations as the former PhD programme in Mechatronics.

For applicants

To pursue a PhD in Mechatronics, you have to apply for a position as a PhD Research Fellow (PhD scholarship). Alternatively your company may apply for support for a three-year period for you, the employee, who wishes to pursue an ordinary doctoral degree. The following requirements apply for admission to the PhD programme :

  • The average grade for courses included in the bachelor's degree (or equivalent) must be C or higher.
  • The average grade for courses included in the master's degree (or equivalent) must be B or higher.
  • The master's thesis (or equivalent) must have a grade B or higher.

Proficiency in oral and written English is required. Applicants from some countries will be required to document their English skills through one of the following tests, with the stated results or better:

  • TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language with a minimum score of 550 on the Paper-based Test (PBT), or 80 on the Internet based Test (iBT).
  • IELTS – International English Language Testing System, with a result of 6.0.
