Findings in Java
For our field studies in Java we stayed in Giricahyo. Java turned out to be something quite different from the other two islands.
Since we were all in the same desa, not more than 5 minutes by motorbike apart, we decided to go with the same solution as in Lombok. We published one joint report on health, education etc. With the experience from Flores, we decided to skip the interview guides. This was because our most important questions in Flores turned out to to be the improvised ones. Not having a guide however, made the interviews more demanding. This made many of us write a list of questions before our interviews.
