| The department is organised in a matrix structure featuring both competence and application areas. All staff is grouped according to competence into three competence groups. Across the competence groups, we have identified three application areas where we cooperate in multidisciplinary research centres. |
Competence Groups
Mobile Communication Systems Group
The mobile communication systems group handles all aspects of mobile communication topics, starting from properties of communication channels in the Mobile Communications Group up to mobile applications and services in the Agder Mobility Lab.
Systems and Security Group
The system development and security group handles all issues connected to systems, software and security. Particular interest areas are learning automata, modelling, security, privacy and trust.
Multimedia Group
The multimedia group handles the issues on the user side. It is concerned with application development and end-user aspects. Two major focus areas in this group are multimedia and mobile devices.
Multidisciplinary Research Centres
Centre for eHealth and healthcare technology
The centre is a multidisciplinary co-operation between the Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences, the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, as well as the Faculty of Engineering and Science. The aim of the centre is to contribute to a better and more efficient use of technology for patients in their everyday life. Director: Associate Professor Rune Fensli.
Centre for Integrated Emergency Management - CIEM
CIEM’s primary objective is to facilitate a shift in Emergency Preparedness & Management by significantly advancing the solution of interlinked key problems in ICT, information systems and socio-cultural factors affecting the adoption of new solutions.
Director: Professor José Gonzalez
The department offers a PhD programme in ICT.
